We’re off to the races–or ergs in this case! Sparks Camp Seattle started with an introduction to the facilities and culminated in a fitness and mobility evaluation as coaches began their skills assessment for the week. Ergs were on hand and campers completed a mix of steady state and max watt testing while Coach Megan disscussed the importance of the erg as a training tool for better speed and efficiency on the water. Campers also sat down with Coach Nich to set their personal goals for the week. Our coxswains also jumped right in, heading out on the water to get a first look with Coach Marcus. At the end of the day, it was great to see campers settling into the dorms, getting to know roommates and other campers, and swapping stories from their home teams. With day one in the books, everyone is excited to get on the water tomorrow.
