Sparks Summer Rowing Camp – Middletown, CT – Wesleyan – Day 3

We got our rain last night and the morning was much cooler! Athletes were up early and ready for more training. Coaches switched boats, so athletes could get a different perspective. Coxswains have rotated through all the groups since the beginning of camp to give them more experience. Following morning practice, athletes signed up with coaches again for individual One-on-one sessions.

“Getting ready to launch”

“Cool morning”

“Technical feedback before lunch.”

After lunch, athletes walked back for Session #2. As line ups were more comfortable with each other, the Coaches decided to have athletes participate in a more competitive workout. Drills first, and then side by side steady state pieces to get the competitive fire going!

“Heading out”

“Side by side.”

“HERE WE GOOOooo!”

Following Session #2, athletes ate dinner, and then attended the evening’s lecture at Shanklin Hall/Lab. Athletes were privileged to sit in on a coaches panel, where our guest coaches answered general questions regarding the recruiting process and what it takes to be a collegiate athlete. Best advice of the evening: “Focus on your studies!”

“Coaches Panel”

“Notebooks out!”

Athletes had a little free time after the pPanel, and then it was early to bed as the training sessions begin to pile up!
