What is a Jaffa? And how do they race? Important questions answered during the annual Dunedin Chocolate Festival.
Jaffa’s are chocolate spheres coated with an orange shell, similar to an M&M, but round and have a hint of orange taste. On the Friday of the Chocolate Festival, Cadbury releases 50,000 Jaffas in a race to the bottom of Baldwin St., the steepest street in the world. People “buy” the Jaffas with the proceeds going to charities. It was an intense race. As the announcer said: “It’s like the Tour de France, but smaller!”
