San Diego can be a harsh place in the winter. However, we know that our rowers and coxswains can handle these conditions in order to improve their skills.
Our 2013 San Diego Winter Camp began with a brief orientation at the hotel, followed by the short walk along the bay to the boathouse. There, the rowers had a fitness assessment while the coxswains covered some basics of the bay and coxing. After the assessment, and while the sun slowly set in the background, everyone went for a short row on the bay.
The final events for the night included pizza around the pool and a talk by one of the coaches about what it takes to achieve your goals titled “Taking It to the Next Level.” By the end of the talk pretty much everyone was ready for bed and eager to rest up for the remainder of the camp.
