Gunnery Rowing Camp

Skills

Camp Details

The Gunnery's Summer Rowing Camp offers athletes in grades 7-12 a fun and positive environment to develop their rowing skills. Three one-week sessions will be offered in June and July for rowers of all skill levels. In addition to providing a safe, fun, and nurturing environment, our mission is threefold: introduce young athletes to the sport of rowing, help intermediate rowers improve their skills, and assist advanced rowers in refining their training and technique to improve performance. To achieve these goals, participants row two, two-hour sessions per day in both sweep, and sculling boats. Individualized video review, and instruction on the ergometer will also be used to teach and improve technique.

For nearly 70 years, Gunnery Rowing has been one of the top teams in New England. We have been New England champions and won the Head Of The Charles. In 2014 we won the National Scholastic Championship. Members of our squad have gone on to row for the Junior and Senior National Teams, and forge successful college careers at division I and III level colleges and universities. Over the past decade our athletes have rowed at the University of Washington, Brown University, Northeastern, Syracuse and Hobart William Smith, among many others.
