Camp Details

Join the Cal Men's Rowing Coaching Staff for Rowing at the University of California, Berkeley. The Cal Men's Crew Camps are designed for rowers of all skill and experience levels and will cover all facets of the sport. Daily sessions will cover technique, conditioning, strength training, video analysis, racing tactics, and the college recruitment process. Camp is open to rowers interested in trying the sport of rowing or those that have previous experience looking to improve after their novice year.

CAL MEN'S CREW - TECHNIQUE AND RACING CAMP JUN. 12 - JUN. 15, 2017

Camp Dates: July 5th-8th
Check-In: 12:00 PM at the Boathouse
Check-out: 5:00 PM at the Boathouse (On the last day, campers will head to the boathouse for a row, head back to the dorm for lunch/check out, and bring bags back to boathouse in the afternoon.)
Ages: Entering grades 9-12
Suggested skill level: 1-7, out of 10

Girls welcomed but only as coxswains. Camp is open to participants of all abilities and is restricted only by gender and age.

This camp is suggested for rowers of novice experience, all rowers and athletes are welcome. Camp will give athletes a sense of what it is like to train and race at a Division I university while focusing on seat-racing, race strategy, starts, and sprinting. Coxswains will be given individual feedback and the opportunity to review recordings of their race calls.
 
 

CAL MEN'S CREW - ELITE HIGH PERFORMANCE CAMP JUL. 24 - JUL. 27, 2017

Camp Dates: July 25th-28th
Check-In: 12:00 PM at the Boathouse

Ages: Entering grades 9-12
Suggested skill level: 5-10, out of 10

This camp is geared towards experienced rowers with at least one season of racing who want to get a feel for what it is like to row at an elite Division I university. There will be in depth education and discussion of the rowing stroke, training regimens, and racing tactics. Conditioning, strength training, and video analysis will take place, as well as exposing camp athletes to the collegiate recruitment process. Coxswains will be given individual feedback and the opportunity to review recordings of their calls.

Both camps will focus on sweep rowing.

Meet Vera

Coxswain Coaching Associate

Vera is an elite level Dutch coxswain. She helped build portions of the self-assessment mechanisms utilized in the Sparks coxswain curriculum. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design and is completing a Masters in Marine Technology from Delft University of Technology. She also holds a C2 level in Cambridge English.
