Camp Details

 Riverside Boat Club is pleased to offer the RBC Junior Stripes program, a 7-week competitive racing camp this summer for junior boys and girls. Rowing out of our boathouse at 769 Memorial Drive in Cambridge, athletes will train and race in both sweep and sculling boats, competing at Cromwell Cup in Boston and concluding the season at Canadian Henley in St. Catharines, Ontario. The camp will be open to athletes with junior racing status.

Requirements

  • Certificate of competency in swimming. Athletes must provide documentation that they can swim 100 yards and remain afloat for 5 minutes unassisted.
  • Valid passport.
  • Completed application, health form, and waiver.

Capacity is 40 athletes
(18 boys, 18 girls, 4 coxswains)

Schedule (7 practices/week):

  • Monday 9:00am-11:30am
  • Tuesday 9:00am-11:30am, 1:30pm-4:00pm
  • Wednesday 9:00am-11:30am
  • Thursday 9:00am-11:30am, 1:30pm-4:00pm
  • Friday 9:00am-11:30am

*no practice on July 4th

Meet Dave

Director of Experiential Education

Dave Payne heads Sparks' experiential education division - namely, rowing camps across the US and in Europe and New Zealand. He holds a B.S. in Chemical Education and a M.S. in Chemistry from the University of California at San Diego and is a former collegiate athlete and high school rowing head coach. He has worked at Sparks since 2011; Dave's passion is synthesizing athletic environments that encourage holistic growth.
