Who We Are

Vera Terlouw

A Dutch high performance coxswain, Vera Terlouw serves in a long line of distiguished coxswain educators at Sparks.

Vera took the model initially developed by Marcus McElhenney (Bronze Medal, Beijing Olympics) and Laura Simon (U.S. Junior National Team coxswain coach) and others and implemented much of its current scale and structure to the role of coxswain education and self-assessment at our five day rowing camps. Vera's responsibilities also include serving as camp operations director at several of the Sparks camps, with U.S. collegiate coaches as direct reports. Her philosophy and understanding of coxing serves as part of the leading edge our work with coxswains.

Vera holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design and is completing a Masters in Marine Technology from Delft University of Technology. She also holds a C2 level in Cambridge English.
