Who We Are
Counseling comes naturally to Christopher Deyoung - he has spent most of his professional career guiding young people towards universities that are an appropriate challenge athletically and academically. Chris learned the ropes of recruiting as the rowing program director for a prominent college prep school; there he was charged with advising the upperclassmen on how to interact with coaches and what to expect as a recruit.
He has worked at Sparks since 2013. A high school history teacher by trade, he enjoys helping his students think critically about the college selection process and their futures insofar as the big picture.
He also coached rowing at the college level, serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Michigan and a recruiting coordinator at Rutgers University. A former-student athlete himself, Christopher studied History and Economics at Rutgers before completing his M.Ed. in Secondary Social Studies at the University of Michigan.
